Directly off of I70 in the small town of Odessa, MO. is a great place to stay for a night or two. Country Gardens RV park is less than a half mile from the interstate and very easy to get in and out of no matter what size RV you have. And although the small town doesn’t have many places to visit it is a nice little town. The RV park is extremely well kept. The staff working in the small store where you check in at are a pleasure to talk too and very helpful. The spot we had for our four-night stay was huge. It was a pull through with room in front for the Truck and room in the back for the Jeep with lots of space left over. They do have a small dog park and it is great for small dogs to run off-leash. But it was a bit too small for our dog Echo. Be sure to stop in the Country Store and tase all the cheese that they make here! It is a little country store that even sells fancy wood-burning stoves.
One place we did find that was a great place to eat is about 30 minutes away in the small town of Buckner. The Italian restaurant called Tuscon’s has fantastic pasta dishes and salads. It is worth the drive if you want a great meal. And our second restaurant choice was the El Camino Real Restaurant about two miles from the RV Park. We don’t usually opt for franchise restaurants but when you have no choice… But we did find the Camino Real to be fairly good and the service was always great. And we enjoyed some fantastic ribs at a little shack in Oak Grove. The place isn’t much to look at but they have fantastic food! The service was also great so stop in at KC Baby Back Ribs in Oak Grove if you love BBQ.
We couldn’t find much nearby to do so we drove about 30 minutes away to Oak Grove. Here you’ll find Walmart and a couple of restaurants and gas stations. There is a small downtown area in Odessa with a couple of shops. We did not visit any of them. They do not have a fitness center on site so we drove to the Anytime Fitness in Pleasent Hill about thirty minutes away.
