Our current home—we own a 2017 Keystone Sprinter 38' FWBHS 5th wheel that we purchased new in January 2017. Read through our blogs on some of the upgrades we have made to make our rolling home even better. We have more upgrades planned for the future and we will blog about them as they are completed.
In the early planning stages, we could not decide if we wanted to purchase a class A or a 5th wheel RV. After weighing all the pros and cons we decided on a 5th wheel. We chose the 5th wheel for two very large, and for us equally important reasons. The 5th wheel was far less upfront cost, plus since we have never camped or owned an RV the less expensive choice leaves less room for regret. Secondly, we had concerns with a unit that has the engine and transmission attached to our home. This has proven to be the best choice for us twice in the past year and a half. Just six months into our full time living our truck needed the EGR valve replaced. We limped off the highway to a campground to drop our house and then drove the half-running-truck to the dealership for a three-day repair. And because I drive the truck and Trish follows behind in the Jeep we still had transportation. The second time was just for routine maintenance, but the garage had our truck for a week. So for us, the 5th wheel life is working well and we don't plan to change it anytime soon.
