Weston Pass Runs from Route 24 to route 285 just south of Fairplay. The route has some deep ruts and a couple of very rocky areas. But for the most part, it is just like traveling on any dirt road. The views are amazing! You will see several remains of log cabins along the route from the late 1800’s. The trip took us about an hour but we stopped several times to photograph. The remains of the log cabins and the amazing panoramic views are worth the drive.

It’s a great trail for any stock  4-wheel drive. Most 2-wheel drives can handle the main part of the trail. It has a couple of areas off the main route and it would be best managed in 4-wheel drive. ground clearance is not an issue along the main route. Passing is not a problem. You only have a couple of areas that you may need to back up a couple hundred feet to pass someone. But the trail is not crowded so this issue would be unlikely.

Jay 'n Trish

We are Jay and Trish, and we're traveling full time in our 38-foot 5th wheel across America. We like to support small business along the way so we always look for that special place the locals like to eat. We also look for full hook up camping spots to basecamp for a week or two while we visit the local communities so we can report back to you what we find. We will give you our honest opinion of each place we stay, eat and work out. Our Beagle Boxer mix, Echo, will also give you reviews on dog friendly places and local dog parks that she visits.
